Case Studies

Efficient communication with your partner

The world is getting smaller and our chance to communicate with overseas partners is increasing. Language should not be a barrier for you to expand your market or to communicate with your Japanese partner.

Case study: Efficient service for daily email communication

Needs: Daily email translation with the overseas partner.

Delivery: Orders are received on a daily basis and I promise delivery within 48 hours after the translation request email however the translation is delivered most of the time within a few hours after the request email is received. In case of an urgent request, the client gives me a notice and I make sure to deliver at the earliest possible time with a fixed additional percentage.

Long-term relationship: Because the client and I have been working together for over 3 years now, I am able to provide translations with in-depth understanding of the relationship between the client and the overseas partner. Moreover, understanding the background enables me to propose different ideas based on the situation.

From document preparation to presentation

When it comes to presentation, simply translating the document may not always work as the cultural background has a powerful influence. With the considerable amount of experiences on document preparation and presentation, I am able to prepare the document and take role as your presenter in Japanese in various different ways.

Case study: Presentation service at an international conference

Needs: Presentation of a medical product at an international conference to promote awareness and introduction of the product.

Services provided: Learning about the product and the background, I prepared a presentation document and handouts. Flew to the country where the conference was held and gave presentations several times to various different groups.

Results: We succeeded in promoting the awareness and introduction of the products, as well as building positive relationships between the client and the audience.

Case study: Moderator at an introductory event

Needs: When entering into the Japanese market, the client needed to present their services to the group of an influential audience in Japan.

Services provided: I organized an event with an influential audience where I played a role as a moderator with three persons from my client’s company as guest speakers to introduce their company and the service, and to receive questions and answers. In order to make an appeal that they are the U.S. based company, we kept the event bilingual. Because the audience was able to receive direct answers from the clients in a friendly atmosphere, the event resulted in several positive coverages in Japanese media.

Localization of videos

From promotion video to documentary, I am receiving an increasing number of subtitling orders. Video is one of the most efficient ways to communicate about your brand, service or product. Whether you want to localize your video with voice-over or subtitles, you need a professional with special skills. For voice-over, you need a localizer familiar with the Japanese script format. And for subtitling, your localizer should have knowledge about the suitable number of letters per second and per line for the Japanese audience to watch comfortably, and skills to make those natural subtitles.

Case study: Subtitling a brand video

Needs: Delivering an English brand video to the Japanese audience with Japanese subtitles.

Video style: Narration explanations and comments from a number of individuals.

Delivery style: I deliver subtitles with video timing for each subtitle. In order to make it comfortable for Japanese people to watch, I normally keep the subtitles in the format of 4 letters / second, 12 letters / line however since it was a video to show at different shops and considering the amount of contents in the video, the client and I agreed to make it a little longer but to stick to the English more.
